Decimus -Ten Essential Life Skills of Successful Entrepreneurs by Rakhi Kapoor is divided into eight parts, which in turn are divided into several chapters. In the first part, the author introduces the reader with the ‘10 life skills’ and then begins the detailed explanation. This non-fiction gives an in-depth description of the above skill sets in a very easy to read and understand manner. Many complex things are simplified very smoothly; the author used a modified version of the Tortoise and the Hare story to explain several things. It gave a story-like touch to the non-fiction. It is very inspirational too. Throughout the book, the author keeps making the point of doing what you are passionate about. She also brings light to meditation and how it plays an important role in her husband’s life.
The book is mainly driven by the life of Vijay Kapoor or ‘The Horseshoe Man’ as he is famously called. It also depicts parts of his life and his nature towards everything. I think such books should have illustrations such as graphs and charts, as it is easy to refer them to make note of points, and this book didn’t disappoint me in that aspect either.
The writing was good and easy flowing. This is an amazing guide for all budding entrepreneurs. We are living in a time when startups are ruling the business world and learning from the life of a businessman is going to be a help indeed. Great thought has been put in writing Decimus -Ten Essential Life Skills of Successful Entrepreneurs and I appreciate Rakhi Kapoor for that. It’s a must-read for anyone who wants to pursue business.
