Archana Garodia Gupta is a delightful storyteller. She weaves the stories of 20 women who dared to change the course of history.
Archana unfolds the layers of history for us and brings forth the stories of these women Warriors, spanning from 500 BCE to the recent times of war of Independence.
Each story in the book ‘The Women who ruled India’ inspire us, women, to be a warrior and never lose hope no matter the hardships and the struggle we face.
The author begins the chapter with a quote which describes the sheer beauty of those Warriors and their bravery.
What I really loved about these short stories is how each tale is full of treasures. Moreover, the author has put in every detail of that particular era and dynasty and yet managed to also tell us about the leadership qualities these women ruler possessed.
Archana’s narration is very lyrical, lulling her readers into these stories with the smoothness of the flowing river and enthralling her readers with easy vernacular.
And the time spanned through the various dynasties is smoothly connected and amazingly narrated. Not once did these stories lose their pace.
I loved almost all its stories but among them, I really loved reading about:
- Raziya Sultan
- The heroines of Chittor
- The Rani Abbakkas of Ullal and many such amazing stories.
Do I recommend this book?
Trust me, when I say this book is a worthy read. History genre lovers are going to fall in love with this book.
This book has earned 5 stars its beautiful narration and lyrical prose and the vast amount of treasure it contains.
