  • ....Review.... Adithi Rao’s book Left from the Nameless Shop is infused with the fragrance of Small-Town of the 1980s. This is a Collection of interconnected short stories set in Rudrapura, the fictitious small town of Karnataka. And the cover of her book of short stories is garnished with the very color of the era, that was more humane. The Town people were not just individual, they were a community. Their lives were more connected and interdepended on each other than in today's virtual world of WhatsApp and Facebook. The stories speak of the life, love, pain, struggles, and death of each eclectic character. You take your own time reading them, savoring each tale slowly, because you don’t want to rush and ruin the charm it holds over you.Language is key here. Adithi is a minimalist, chiseling her prose into its essence. Adithi’s narrative is compelling, poetic yet simple – at once intimate and beautiful. It is as though I was there with the characters, living every minute of their life. The mix of emotions in Adithi’s writing is extraordinary. The stories in the book reminisce you of Malgudi Days, that is because the Author Adithi was inspired by Shankar Nag’s beautiful televised rendition of Malgudi Days. Readers can see the very essence Adithi’s growing up years with her very large joint family to the 1980s Bangalore in this collection of short stories.I loved each and every story of the book ‘Left from the Nameless Shop’, from the first story about Devendrappa to the last story of water harvesting. It teaches you a lesson in humility. This book has earned more than 5 stars and a place on the Re-read section of Bookshelf........#bookworm #books #bookstagram #igreads #fiction #bookstagramfeatures #bookstagramindia #magic #Review #bookreview #BookBlog #bookblogger #bookstagrammer #shortstories #nostalgia #southindia #bookphotography #color #coffeetime #bookstalife #bookshelf #readingismylife #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #instagood #instabooks #coffee
  • Review of 'Rabrinath Tagore’s Two Sisters'......Rating: 5/5...... “Women are of two types; that is what I’ve heard from some scholars. One is of the Mother category, the other is of a lover. If a comparison with the seasons can be drawn, the mother is like the rainy season. She gives water, provides fruits, diffuses the Heat, sends you cold showers from the high skies, removes dryness, fulfills your want. And the beloved is like spring. Deep is her mystery, sweet is her charm, her fickleness creates ripples in your blood. The ripples reach that treasure-trove of your mind where a secret string in the golden Veena silently waits for resonance, the the resonance that vibrates in your entire body and mind with the message of the infinite.” With these alluring lines, the tale of Two Sisters begins. Setting the pace for what is to come. Lyrical proses adorns the 76 pages book ‘Two Sisters’, written by the Nobel Prize Winner Rabindranath Tagore and translated by Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee. The story is based on an eternal conflict a married man faces, that a wife cannot be only a mother figure, but she also has to be a woman who is a seductress and takes every step with him. Rabindranath Tagore’s narrative is very lyrical and enticing. By the time I was done reading the book, I was overwhelmed and in full of awe of this man ‘Rabindranath Tagore’. The narrative of the book has a hint of sarcasm and cynicism. Vividly alive, we are thrown into the early 1900s. Rabindranath subtly highlighted the nuances of human nature.Character development is gradual and in pace. Subtle to the senses. I highly recommend this translation to anyone who is thinking to read Tagore or to someone who is looking for the good translations.......Thanks @niyogi_books for the review copy......#classics #bookstafeatures #bookstagrammer #bookstagramindia #bookstagramfeature #booknerdigans #igreview #igreads #goodreads #instabooks #bookreviews #bookreview #bookaddict #bookgeek #booknerds #readbook #readmorebooks #bookstagram #book #bookshelf #bookblogger #bookreview #unitedbookstagram #bookstalife #bookaesthetic #bookphotography

  • What’s the first ever comic book you read?Ok, toh Abhi ka theme hai ”Comic Books”I was talking to Neelam today and she asked me about my first comic read. See, I’m not much of a Comic Lover but I do remember my first comic read and it was ”Nagraj”. 🙈😂And then I asked Neelam about her first Comic Read, and she replied ”Chacha Chowdhry aur Sabu”. And that’s how we got the idea of asking people about their first comic book. Just to know whether are we the only one or is there other people like us who didn’t start off from a Marvel or DC comic!#bookstagramindia #bookbloggers #bookishpost #instagramreads #readaholic #themagicofbookstagram #bookphotos #bookbloggerlife #comics #firstcomicbook #igreads #unitedbookstagramindia #comicbooks #newbookstagram #bookishfeatures #slowmo #igcomics #bookstagramfeatures #comicstagram #bookobsessed #bookishlife #booxoul
  • I want to talk about the two books that have been occupying my senses since a week. 1. In a Violent Land: Short Stories & Essays2. The Essence of Delhi: Short Stories & Essays.I'm still reeling over with what I have read. These two books, shook me to tears. There were no emotions in me that could do justice to these stories. Each story left a gaping hole in my heart, some left me in smiles and some left me longing for people that were never mine. But what really shook me was the fierce and intense narratives of the Authors like Khushwant Singh, Mahasweta Devi, Anna Bhau Sathe, Suketu Mehta, William Dalrymple, Pamela Timms and the list goes on and on.The book 'Essence of Delhi' Transported me into the very core of Delhi. I started craving the very air of Delhi. The History and people of Delhi is now embedded in every being of my soul. While reading the 'The Essence of Delhi', I literally felt the pull of it calling my name.I could hardly stop myself from talking about this book to almost everyone. Sharing the stories with them. The books are melange of India and its culture, its land and people. A beautiful Read. These books deserve more than 5 star ratings. They deserve to be treasured on Bookshelf. These two books are part of many books of 'Olio Series' from @alephbookco .Thank you @alephbookco for the review copies.Tell me which book had an effect on you so immense that you thought nothing but that book for a very long time?............#bookworm #books #bibliophile #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #bookstagramindia #bookphotograph #bookphotography #winter #culturetripbooks #indianreaders #india #delhi #Review #BookBlog #bookblogger #shortstories #bookstagram #unitedbookstagram #nostalgia #bookstalife #bookshelf #vscobooks
