How do you feel when on a rare chance you get to review a beautiful Coffee Table book, and that too on one of your favorite genre?
That is how felt when I got my hand on this beauty of a book Arun’s “Suvarna Mohur”.
Page count: 86 pages (Hardcover)
Publisher: Notion Press
Publication Date: November 5th, 2018
Author Arun, very craft fully tell us about the history of 133 Coins, which tell us the story of rich in tradition and cultural India. From the first coins that were minted about 2500 years, ‘Suvarna Mohur’ traces the history of thriving trade and economy but also how efficiently the coins were used back then.
Arun’s ‘Suvarna Mohur’ took me on a delightful, illuminating and, the illustrious journey of the history of Coinage in just 86 pages of eye-catching Coins of different times and eras.
I really liked the way the author narrated the history of the coin so vast in a precise, short and crisp manner so as not to make the book boring.
Spanning from the Indus Valley Civilization of 600 BCE, where the first coin was minted to the 21st century, the author enthralled me with each segment where he tells his readers about the lifestyle of people at that time, changing landscapes and social and political scenarios.
The Coins are the footprints of great dynasties of our past: Maurayas, Guptas, Mughals, Marathas, British etc.,
I never knew before now that a simple coin could hold uncontained stories and histories of the time it represented. Simply Astounding!!!
Do I recommend this book!?
There is nothing in this book to dislike it!. ‘Suvarna Mohur’ is a well-researched book. It has every element to keep you glued to the pages till the last. A classic read and forever to treasure it on your bookshelves
