A Tapestry of Tears by Gita V. Reddy

Ms. Gita V. Reddy – Take a bow! You now have one more fan added to possibly the legions of fans you already have. A Tapestry of Tears is a book that makes the reader laugh, cry and reminisce in equal measures about how life is so predictably unpredictable.

Opening Lines: As the sun set further down, Deshi brought in a lantern and placed it on the window ledge.

Page Count: 255 pages

Publication Date: November 2nd, 2016

Publisher: Unit Books

The book begins with its namesake story – A Tapestry of Tears which is the perfect opener for this collection of short stories. A Tapestry of Tears takes the reader through a complete journey of life with hope, tears, sadness, courage and more hope at the end of it. The silver lining, though dull, is never quite far away in Ms. Reddy’s reflective & insightful writing. Slowly, the book unravels each emotion you may have faced in life with a nearly anecdotal life experience and brings it all together with stellar moments in stories like The Quizzing Glass, Only Her Daughter, Aalaya and The Better Half.

The commonality of each story is a moment in time. A moment where life ceases to exist but is in suspended animation. The crossroads, the decisions, the life lived beyond that moment makeup Gita’s insightful stories. The book promises a collection of stories portraying love, loss, life, and family. Not only does it hold true to its promise, the book leaves you with a feeling of something more metaphysical. This is not a book to be read in a single seating but rather to be picked up when one needs answers. The book provides the reader with stories that unravel like a fine breeze or a thunderstorm as the reader progresses through them.

A lifetime has been captured amongst the pages of this book and the author may have felt the same sentiment seeing how the book has been lovingly dedicated to her husband. One almost wishes the characters of the book could come alive and could spend hours with the reader talking about their emotions, their fears, their pain, and their journey, but alas, any book that leaves you with such a hopeful yet profound feeling deserves a bow. For a book that has left the reviewer with a happy and glad heart for having read it and heading to buy more of Reddy’s books, the book gets a rating of 4 stars out of 5. Go ahead and live life through the pages of The Tapestry of Tears!

“Intuitive, seeker of stories, believes in Utopia but lives in the real world – Hirak reads to fall in love and lives to read.

Drowning out the crowd in a book is her hobby and strategizing to create great communication techniques, her passion.

A mix of both and a dash of wit, this reviewer will love your book till death do them part!”
