3 Books you should Read to understand 4D aka ‘the fourth dimension’

Fourth Dimension!

We all have heard of this but no one of us actually does know “What 4D is or How does it look like?“.

Some people think that it’s the dimension of Time and some think that it’s the dimension of Space but no one is sure about that.

So trust me when I say that if you’re a greedy geek in Physics & Maths like me then you’re gonna love this topic.

First of all, let’s see a PROJECTION of 4th Dimension in our 3D world on a 2D screen:

I can explain to you what 4D actually is, but no matter how hard I try I can never make you understand the way this man did in this video. But what I can do is suggest you the books you should read to learn more about ‘What 4D is?‘.

So, first of all, understand what 4D is and then below the video, I’m gonna put my suggestions:

Ok, so now you know what 4D is, let’s just dive a bit deeper and explore a few books on 4D:

Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions
by Edwin A. Abbott

Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin A. Abbott

This book is actually a journey of a SQUARE (Geometrical figure with 4 sides & 4 corners) who lives in a 2D aka Two-Dimensional Flatland.

This book gives you a perspective of Square of 3D and 1D and 0D world.

The thing that amuses me the most about this book is that it was written in 1880. Yes, you heard me correct!!! 1880. That means it was written before the discovery of ‘The Theory of Relativity‘ by Einstein.

Sphereland: A Fantasy About Curved Spaces & an Expanding Universe
by Dionys Burger

Sphereland: A Fantasy About Curved Spaces & an Expanding Universe by Dionys Burger

This is the sequel of the book we just talked about i.e., Flatland. It is an update to its prequel which was written in 1880 and obviously has flaws, but that doesn’t mean this book is IDEAL. I like Flatland more than this one but still, it is good enough to be on this list.

The Fourth Dimension: Toward a Geometry of Higher Reality
by Rudy Rucker

The Fourth Dimension: Toward a Geometry of Higher Reality by Rudy Rucker

This is the best book you can ever read on the Fourth Dimension. It busts all the myths exist regarding the 4th dimension. The book is written so simply so that anyone can read it and trust me you don’t even have to know maths for reading this 😉

Okay, so that was my list of 3 Books you should Read to understand 4D aka ‘the fourth dimension’. Do let me know in the comments if I’m missing something here or if I have included a book that shouldn’t be here or if you like something to share.

Happy Reading 🙂
